Rowkin's Tips for Keeping Your New Year's Resolution

January 02, 2020 2 min read

Nearly everyone does it: when December 31st rolls around, nearly everyone has some kind of New Year’s Resolution that they vow to stick to. This year will be different. One of the most popular New Year’s Resolutions is to be more active.

Being more active is easier said than done, but that’s why Rowkin has a list of some tips to help you keep that Resolution so that 2020 really is the year you achieve your goal.

Set a Specific Goal

When it comes to making a New Year’s Resolution, our goals can be pretty vague. ‘Be more active’ is just one example of this. Studies show, though, that setting specific and realistic goals will be more helpful in meeting them, whether you’re a teen, a young adult, or well into middle age.

That being said, it is better to say, “I want to be more active by taking a walk three times a week,” or saying, “I am going to be more active by going to the gym twice a week.”

These specific goals help us to make a schedule, which is the next tip we have for you!

Make a Plan

Diving head-first into your New Year’s Resolution can seem like the logical thing to do, but many people can become deterred or feel disappointed when their three days of intense hard work doesn’t pay off.

Making a plan, or even a schedule, can help when mapping out your journey.

For example, if you really do want to “be more active” in a certain way, set reminders in your phone or calendar app. You could set aside thirty minutes every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to go on a run or a walk.

Carving out a plan can help you meet your goals without burning yourself out.

Enjoy It

Our New Year’s Resolutions can seem hard to reach sometimes, and that makes these Resolutions a chore, but there is a way to help.

For a “be more active” resolution, I find it’s best to find a way to get excited about walking or running or going to the gym. Create a hype playlist with your favorite hits that gets you ready for the workout you have in store.

Once you’re suited up, pop in some wireless earbuds, like our Rowkin Base Wireless Earbuds, to avoid snagging on wires and ruining your vibe during your workout.

The sound quality in our earbuds will make sure you’re jamming out, even when there’s sweat pouring down your face.

Bottom Line

Keeping our New Year’s Resolutions can be difficult. To ensure you keep yours, make sure to set a specific and realistic goal, make a plan, and--most importantly--enjoy it!
